The Water Sustainability Lab
is part of National Cheng Kung University’s Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering and Natural Hazards Mitigation and Management Departments.
Led by professor Hsiao-Wen Wang, the Water Sustainability lab has been conducting research since 2008.
This research lab conducts interdisciplinary and international research on topics related to sustainable development, from mountain dam removal planning, coastal wetland wise-use, flood mitigation, and sustainable renewable energy planning.
The importance of holistic systems thinking is taken seriously in all of the work done.
In the face of climate change, it is now more important than ever that engineering and development plans are adamant about meeting social, environmental, and economic facets of sustainability.
